An extremely chilling murder case shook the town of Kherli in Rajasthan's Alwar district, where a 9-year-old child unearthed a henious crime that would have otherwise gone dismissed the natural death. The father, ironically a tent house owner Viru Jatav, was killed by his own wife Anita Raj and her lover through hired hitmen. Due to the courageous, substantiated testimony of the child, the Rajasthan Police solved the case within days.
According to the child's statement, soft knocking was heard at about 4:30 in the morning. As it seemed, from his window, the child saw his mother open the door to "Kashi Uncle," later confirmed to be Kashiram Prajapat, her alleged lover, and four other unwanted guests- five men who were there to do the killing.
The boy said about his father being punched in the face, legs being twisted, then he was suffocated with a pillow. When he tried to intervene, Kashi held him up, threatened him and told him not to speak. Later the boy said to the police and to the media:
“Mummy is very bad. She got pappa killed.”
The child’s words adrift in the air must have been the making of the investigation because they contradicted the false notion of natural death put forth by wife Anita Raj, the wife.
The victim's elder brother, Gabbar Jatav, was unsure about the explanation given for the sudden illness and lodged a complaint. Thereafter, under the supervision of SHO Dhirendra Singh, thorough investigations were carried out by the Rajasthan Police.
The main activities involved were:
On 18 June, arrests were made of the wife Anita Raj, lover Kashiram, and contract killer Brijesh Jatav.
Investigators say that the incident was planned beforehand, and it was done for love and money. Wife Anita Raj and her lover Kashiram are suspected to want to have Veeru killed so that they could carry on their illicit romance without interference. The 2 lakh rupee payment to the contract killers was evidence of their intention to murder.
This case reflects the times when law enforcement must act swiftly with dedication. Upon receiving an informant tip from the child, SHO Dhirendra Singh and his team acted immediately, employing digital forensics efficiently, and exposed what would have likely been covered up as a natural death.
This is far from the only one. Over 12 different cases from across India in 2025 alone involve wives conspiring with their lovers to murder their husbands through hired hitmen. These cases present concerns about how relationships function, the breakdown of trust within them, and an estimating rise in brutal crimes against families.
The Alwar murder case bears one of the many chilling reminders as to just how dark human motives can be. Due to the brave voice of the child who was 9 years old and the painstaking efforts of the Rajasthan Police, one of the coldest crimes was unearthed. And now, while the legal proceedings continue, the support for the boy both psychically and mentally, who made justice possible, must not be forgotten.
Society and the legal system must ensure that child witnesses in such brutal crimes are protected, counselled, and given a future far removed from the horrors of that 4:30 in the morning crime that changed his life forever.
